Design and Implementation of an Electronic Data Retrieval System for Project Research Work Listing

Abstract

It has been implemented with various web technology tools such as HTML, CSS and PHP. These were used to ensure ease of access when hosted online. It has also provided the bedrock for more and more ideas for student study plans.

Chapter One Summary (Objective of the Study)

The objectives of the study include:

  1. Taking a look of previous resources about studies about this kind of project.
  2. Exploring in detail various algorithms that can be used to develop a working project.
  3. Conducting a study on the needs of students on campus.
  4. Providing a solution to the needs of students on campus, specifically in the area of resource retrieval.
  5. Digitizing the process of retrieving resources such as past exam questions.
  6. Creation of an e-hub for the storage and organization of past question resources.
  7. Exploring other areas where technology can be used to improve the student experience on campus, such as in the areas of communication, organization, and resource management.
  8. Improving the efficiency of organization and storage of resources.
  9. Contribution of the developed artefact to the field of academic research.

Chapter Two Summary (Literature Review)

This chapter examines in detail, the history and developments made in the ICT sector, through previous research work on this subject of educational resources. We would also examine the characteristics, models, architectures and limitations as pointed out by various scholars and researchers. This will provide the ground work for figuring out an efficient way to implement a project listing and retrieval system.

Academic research listing projects serve as a comprehensive summary of existing research within a certain field or topic. According to Smith (2018), this type of project involves a thorough examination of academic sources, such as journals, books, conference proceedings, etc. to identify and summarize relevant research studies.

The process of conducting a research listing project starts with defining its scope and establishing criteria for source selection, as Jones (2019) highlights. Researchers then use databases like JSTOR or Google Scholar (Brown, 2020) to search for relevant studies and create a list of sources for review.

Once the sources are gathered, researchers systematically analyze each one to determine its relevance and usefulness for the project, as Malmqvist et al (2019) explains. They extract key information from the sources, including research questions, methods, findings, and conclusions, and synthesize this information to form a comprehensive overview of research in the field, as Peters et al (2020) describes.

The results of a research listing project can identify gaps in existing research, guide future research directions, and provide a foundation for meta-analyses and systematic reviews, according to Ashraf et al (2021). In conclusion, academic research listing projects play a vital role in advancing knowledge and understanding in a particular field.

Academic research listing projects serve as a comprehensive summary of existing research within a certain field or topic. According to Linnenluecke et al (2020), this type of project involves a thorough examination of academic sources, such as journals, books, conference proceedings, etc. to identify and summarize relevant research studies.

Once the sources are gathered, researchers systematically analyze each one to determine its relevance and usefulness for the project, as Davis (2021) explains. They extract key information from the sources, including research questions, methods, findings, and conclusions, and synthesize this information to form a comprehensive overview of research in the field, as Johnson et al(2021) describes. In conclusion, academic research listing projects play a vital role in advancing knowledge and understanding in a particular field.

Chapter Three Summary (Methodology)

This chapter reviews the current state of the academic research work listing system, with a focus on identifying areas for improvement. The study explores the relationships among actors, entities, platforms, and information flows within the organization and how they impact the functionality and usability of the system. The primary objective of the literature review is to design and implement a new system that addresses the limitations of the existing one, utilizing tested and trusted development methodologies such as the user-centered design approach and the Waterfall model. The goal is to create a system that is more efficient and effective in managing and retrieving academic research data.

Chapter Four Summary (Data Analysis)

The programming languages used in this project include PHP, CSS, HTML and JavaScript. PHP was chosen as the server scripting language due to its reputation as a secure framework. It also has ease of use as all its functions are executed on the server. PHP was also considered based on its friendliness with databases. It is database driven.

Chapter Five Summary (Conclusion)

An educational project listing platform was developed in this project. The system was able to register users and enable them to access previously uploaded undergraduate academic research papers on the database. The platform also has been developed through the examination of previous scholarly articles and related systems.
