5. To generate the list of books due by a particular member and also the overdue charges.

CHAPTER TWO

FEASIBILITY STUDY

The Concept of Computerized Library Management System In feasibility study phase we had undergone through various steps which are describe as under:

1. Identify the origin of the information at different level.
2. Identify the expectation of user from computerized system.
3. Analyze the drawback of existing system (manual) system.

Working Of Present Manual System

The staff of library are involved in the following tasks.

1. Membership process : person have to fill membership form and they are provided with member id.

Drawbacks of Present System

Some of the problems being faced in manual system are as follows:

1. Fast report generation is not possible.
2. Tracing a book is difficult.
3. Information about issue/return of the books are not properly
maintained.

FUTURE SCOPES, CONCLUSION

AND REFERENCE

Summary of the findings:

The major findings of this study are as follows:

Anambra state college of agriculture, Mgbakwudo not have computerized Library management system in their college library.

Library Employees do not make use of an automated system for effective management of college library.

Outcome of the Study:

Based on this project at Anambra state college of agriculture, Mgbakwu College library, the following are the outcome of the study.

  1. 1. College library collections are in single database
  2. 2. It gives the full control over the library collections and operations
  3. 3. Faculty members and research scholars can check the required books by the Computerized Library Management module
  1. 4. Research scholars and faculty members can check the status of their borrowed books
  1. 5. They can get the complete details about the books for their further reading and research
  1. 6. This library can share their data with various library and other department libraries.

Future Scope

FUTURE SCOPE OF APPLICATION:

This application can be easily implemented under various situations. I can add new features as and when I require.

Reusability is possible as and when require in this application.

There is flexibility in all the modules.

SOFTWARE SCOPE:

Extensibility:This software is extendable in ways that its original developer may not expect. The following principles enhances extensibility like hide data structure, avoid traversing multiple links or methods, avoid case statements on object type, and distinguish public and private operations.

Reusability:Reusability is possible as and when require in this application. I can update it next version. Reusable software reduces design, coding and testing cost by amortizing effort over several designs. Reducing the amount of code also simplifies understanding, which increases the likelihood that the code is correct. I follow up both types of reusability: Sharing of newly written code within a project and reuse of previously written code on new projects.

Understandability:A method is understandable if someone other than the creator of the method can understand the code (as well as the creator after a time lapse). I use the method, which small and coherent helps to accomplish this.

Cost-effectiveness:Its cost is under the budget and make within given time period. It is desirable to aim for a system with a minimum cost subject to the condition that it must satisfy the entire requirement.

Scope of this document is to put down the requirements, clearly identifying the information needed by the user, the source of the information and outputs expected from the system.

Conclusion

In this research work, a sincere attempt has been made towards finding out ways and means for automating activities in Anambra state college of agriculture, MgbakwuLibrary. The objective of this study is to use the Computerized Library Management Open Source software system for the automation of the major day-to-day activities of the various section of the Anambra state college of agriculture, Mgbakwu Library, which is tiresome and cumbersome. After the investigation, the researcher has found that Computerized Library Management system Software is more suitable for the library Automation. This project had the basic objective of designing a bibliographic database for the Anambra state college of agriculture, Mgbakwu Library, with which the automation of circulation routines is carried out. From this point of view it may be concluded that Computerized Library Management System is a useful package for the creation of a database and for information retrieval. This set of Manuals for the automation of circulation section is tested with the database created from the collection of Anambra state college of agriculture, Mgbakwu library. A sample database for a few thousand works and a database of the users/borrowers are created. With that test sample the Manuals for each function of the circulation section is tested with the available computer system.Compurized Library management system is an integrated software system with all the required models for small to very large libraries. It is found that this automation projects will serve as a model for any library. Being an open source, any Library wanted to go for automation for their library housekeeping operations can make use of this software.

Implication of the Findings

The findings of this research work are very relevant to library theory and practice. It identifies various means of utilizing computerized library management systems by employees. It also discovered that inadequate use or non-utilization of computerized library management systems in library process will pose a barrier to the where about of the books borrowed by the students. It was also found out that lack of proper funding in the library sector was the cause of lack of provision of library facilities to college library such as computerized library management system with easy access. These issues should be properly handled and more attention is to be given to the use of computerized library management system in library process because college library is very important to every Nigerian student.

Recommendations

On the basis of the above findings, the following recommendations are made:

1) School should provide standard computerized library management system software with easy access to college library in Anambra state college of agriculture, Mgbakwu.

2) Librarian should make sure that the available computerized library management system is used by employees in managemen of library process in college library.

3) Regular training and programs in form of seminars, conferences, and workshops should be organized often for library employees to enable them acquire new skills on how to make use of computerized library management system in library process.

4) The students should be made to understand the need and usefulness of the college library. This will make them to put more effort in research.

Limitation of the Study

Some of the respondents showed uncooperative attitude at the initial stage by being busy with their academic work. The researcher was also faced with financial constraints during the course of this study. This is because there was insufficient fund to cover the large area of the study which requires huge amount of money. The following problems faced in implementation of computerized library management system in Anambra state college of agriculture, Mgbakwu library.

Lack of Infrastructure facility

Lack of Environment support

Lack of Financial Resources

Lack of Infrastructure facility

The Problems relating to infrastructure could be studied from the

following angles
