Review of related literature

Introduction                 

Total quality control management is a strategy that embodies the belief that the management process must focus on integrating the customer-driven quality throughout an organization. It stresses continuous improvement of product quality and service delivery while taking into cognizance the reality that is in order to achieve this goal, employee relations needs to be equally addressed, as the customer cannot get the satisfactory service delivery from ill-motivated employees. Lewis, (2004).

The philosophy underlying the implementation of a quality control strategy is to see organizational customer clients as the vital key to organizational success.

Organizations with quality control see their business through the eyes of their customers and clients and then measure their organizations performance against customer/client expectations Fran, (2002). It therefore follows that organization that wants to be successful with the implementation of quality control management strategy must evaluate its operations through the eyes of its customers by strengthening and exploring all avenues including the people (employees) that make up the organizational structure.

Quality control usually monitors the finish product, it is a crucial part of managing a successful company, if customer receive or perceive inconsistent product and services, they will shop coming or become less loyal, for this reason, a variety of management strategies, including just in time manufacturing total quality management and six sigma have been developed to help companies produce higher quality control products. Revelle. (2004).

Quality control is a system of routine technical activities, to measure and control the quality of the inventory as it is being developed. The quality control is designed to

  • Provide routine and consistent checks to ensure data integrity, correctness, and completeness
  • Identity and address errors and omissions
  • Document and archive inventory materials and record all quality control activities.

Quality control include general methods such as accuracy checks on data acquisition and calculation and the use of approved standardized procedures for emission calculations ,measurements estimating uncertainties ,archiving information and reporting.

 

CHAPTER THREE

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

INTRODUCTION

In this chapter, we described the research procedure for this study. A research methodology is a research process adopted or employed to systematically and scientifically present the results of a study to the research audience viz. a vis, the study beneficiaries.

RESEARCH DESIGN

Research designs are perceived to be an overall strategy adopted by the researcher whereby different components of the study are integrated in a logical manner to effectively address a research problem. In this study, the researcher employed the survey research design. This is due to the nature of the study whereby the opinion and views of people are sampled. According to Singleton & Straits, (2009), Survey research can use quantitative research strategies (e.g., using questionnaires with numerically rated items), qualitative research strategies (e.g., using open-ended questions), or both strategies (i.e., mixed methods). As it is often used to describe and explore human behaviour, surveys are therefore frequently used in social and psychological research.

POPULATION OF THE STUDY

According to Udoyen (2019), a study population is a group of elements or individuals as the case may be, who share similar characteristics. These similar features can include location, gender, age, sex or specific interest. The emphasis on study population is that it constitutes of individuals or elements that are homogeneous in description.

This study was carried to examine quality control as determinant factors for effective and efficient production. Dangote noodles in Lagos state form the population of the study.

SAMPLE SIZE DETERMINATION

A study sample is simply a systematic selected part of a population that infers its result on the population. In essence, it is that part of a whole that represents the whole and its members share characteristics in like similitude (Udoyen, 2019). In this study, the researcher adopted the convenient sampling method to determine the sample size.

CHAPTER FOUR

DATA PRESENTATION AND ANALYSIS

INTRODUCTION

This chapter presents the analysis of data derived through the questionnaire and key informant interview administered on the respondents in the study area. The analysis and interpretation were derived from the findings of the study. The data analysis depicts the simple frequency and percentage of the respondents as well as interpretation of the information gathered. A total of eighty (80) questionnaires were administered to respondents of which only seventy-seven (77) were returned and validated. This was due to irregular, incomplete and inappropriate responses to some questionnaire. For this study a total of 77 was validated for the analysis.

CHAPTER FIVE

SUMMARY, CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION

Introduction     

It is important to ascertain that the objective of this study was to ascertain quality control as determinant factors for effective and efficient production. In the preceding chapter, the relevant data collected for this study were presented, critically analyzed and appropriate interpretation given. In this chapter, certain recommendations made which in the opinion of the researcher will be of benefits in addressing the quality control as determinant factors for effective and efficient production.

Summary        

This study was on quality control as determinant factors for effective and efficient production. Three objectives were raised which included: To determine how business performance can be improved through quality control management, to determine nature of quality control and to determine the nature of effective and efficient product. A total of 77 responses were received and validated from the enrolled participants where all respondents were drawn from Dangote noodles. Hypothesis was tested using Chi-Square statistical tool (SPSS).

 Conclusion

The problems facing quality control management were then described and the researcher summarized that whenever these problems are solved, then and only then would quality control management be able to meet expected role in organization. The researcher then concludes that if part or all the recommendation put forward to the company are carried out, the problems and wrong attitude toward quality control would be things of past.

Finally, the researchers hope that with effective and efficient implementation of quality control, managers will be able to gain customer’s satisfaction, increase degree of market control and improve financial performance of the company.

Recommendation

  1. That quality must be reflected not just in company’s product or idea, but in every company’s activities.
  2. That quality should required total staff commitment. Quality can be delivered by companies in which all staff are committed to quality, motivate and train employees to deliver quality.
  3. That there should be continuous improvement of quality. The company should embrace the concept of continuous improvement of everyone in the organization.
  4. That effort should be geared towards improving quality by learning ways to do right things. Doing things right the first time reduces the causes of savage, repair and redesign including losses in customer and client goodwill.
  5. That reward and other incentives for a well performance employee are readily available as these will boost employee’s working moral towards quality output.
  6. That effort should be made to ensure that an effective quality control is regularly done in the appropriate manner more often than their competitor to create quality awareness in consumer’s
